Flake floors that clean with a hose
Epoxy flake is four layers on a properly ground slab: primer, base, a full broadcast of vinyl chips, and a clear topcoat. It hides oil, tire marks, and the stain from the water heater, and it makes the garage a room instead of a place you park. The four layers
- Grind: diamond-grind the slab so the coating bonds to concrete, not to whatever was on it
- Prime: epoxy primer worked into the pores, cracks and spalls filled first
- Flake: full broadcast of vinyl chips to refusal, in the blend you pick
- Seal: scrape, vacuum, and a clear topcoat that shrugs off hot tires and dropped wrenches
Where the shortcuts are, and why we skip them
A cheap garage floor is a roller and a kit on an unground slab. It peels at the first hot tire. Grinding is the part that makes the floor last, and it is the part most quotes leave out. Ask any installer whether they grind.
Rubber instead of epoxy
For a shop where you stand all day, or a garage that is really a gym, Rubber Stone goes indoors too. Softer on the knees, and it does not show a dropped socket.
