Why rubber beats a coating
Cool-deck coatings and paints are thin. They chip at the edges, show every crack within a season, and are still hard concrete underneath. Rubber Stone is a poured overlay, thick enough to bridge cracks and seams, soft enough to cushion a fall, and textured for grip. It is also noticeably cooler in direct sun because rubber does not bank heat the way a slab does.
What we do on a pool deck
- Pressure wash and fill cracks, spalls, and the seams between pours
- Grind and prime so the overlay bonds
- Pour and hand trowel Rubber Stone in the blend you pick from the chart
- Wrap step nosings and coping edges so there are no hard corners
- Cure for a day or two, then swim
Timing around swim season
Most decks are a one-day pour. We schedule pool work in spring and fall when the deck is not in daily use, and we can stage a large deck so half stays open.
