A play surface that cushions the fall and never needs raking
Bark and gravel wash out, hold heat, hide splinters, and need topping up every spring. Rubber Stone is a poured rubber surface that goes over the concrete or compacted base you already have, cushions a fall, stays cooler than a slab in the sun, and cleans with a hose. NorCal Surfaces installs it at daycares, schools, churches, parks, and backyard play areas across Northern California.
Where it goes
- Daycare and preschool play yards, where the surface gets inspected and the kids get dropped

What it does that bark does not
- Seamless and bound to the base, so nothing migrates, spills, or gets thrown
- Textured for grip when wet, and soft enough to absorb a fall
- Cooler than bare concrete or dark rubber mulch in direct sun
- Wheelchair and stroller accessible, which loose fill is not
- Colors and blends from the manufacturer chart, including two-tone borders and shapes
- A hose and an occasional pressure wash. No raking, no top-ups, no splinters
Thickness and fall height
Play surfaces are specified by the fall height of the equipment above them. We pour Rubber Stone at the thickness the equipment calls for, over a base that drains. Tell us what is on the yard now and what equipment is going in, and we will spec it and put it in writing.
For daycare owners and facilities managers
Most jobs are one or two days on site, and we schedule around your hours: pour on Friday, open on Monday. We are a licensed installer of the manufacturer’s product, the same one on pool decks and patios across Northern California, and the only authorized installer in Shasta County.

Questions we get
Same family of product: recycled and EPDM rubber granules in a polyurethane binder, poured and troweled in place. Ours goes over the pad you already have rather than requiring a full excavation.
Yes. Under a play set, around a trampoline, or on the pad by the pool. It is the same product as a Rubber Stone pool deck.
Most daycare and backyard play areas are one day to pour and a day or two to cure. Larger park installs are scheduled in sections.
